My wife and I were fortunate enough to engage Kate Draper at the very start of a gut renovation of our apartment at the Dakota Building. She came up with great ideas for the renovation itself; transforming an un-needed bathtub area into a much needed closet and designing a master bathroom where there had been none, even painting a wonderful fantasy mural on its walls for my wife.

Throughout our apartment, Kate deployed her "great taste and flair" for colors and fabrics, furnishings and lighting. Her cheerful and "super competent" mode made what could have been a wearying experience into a fun one. Though we don’t plan to move ever; if we did so, "Kate would be the first person to whom we’d turn."

Kate Draper designed for me the most charming and coziest of pied-a-terres, right in the heart of the upper east side of New York City. She worked with me on pieces of furniture I already had and loved, as well as helped me find new treasures -- especially my red sofa! She did it all by exhaustively searching for the "right" pieces at the "right" prices and in a time frame that suited my eagerness to settle in. Kate was "a joy to work with.

After I had had an unsatisfactory consultation with another designer, a friend suggested that I talk to Kate Draper. I was looking for help with fixing up a traditional apartment filled with treasured family furniture The first designer made it clear that she did not like what I had or understand what I wanted.

With Kate, I established an immediate rapport. She listened to me and worked with what I had. She had good suggestions for the things that I knew needed work and also— tactfully— made some great suggestions for things I had not considered. And she was "a lot of fun to work with. I will certainly call on her again."
